Over 29 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course; it's an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, and runs in cafes, churches, universities, homes and bars across the world. They have three things in common - food, a talk and good conversation. Here at St. Andrew's we run courses each Summer and Autumn.
For information about the current course see the "Latest News" section of this website.
We use the latest Alpha videos, an updated, relevant and engaging resource designed to take the audience on a journey exploring the basics of the Christian faith. It uses a 'vox-pop' documentary style, using real life stories of people whose lives have been changed by finding a faith in Jesus Christ.
Alpha consists of approximately eleven sessions, looking at topics including 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?', with the option of a day away.
We normally meet on a Wednesday evening in the church hall at 7:00pm for cakes and light refreshments. This is followed by a talk using the latest Alpha materials and discussion in small groups. One of the highlights of the evenings are the friendships that develop over the duration of the course.
Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.
You don’t have to commit for the whole term – just pop along for the first session and see what you think. No pressure, no follow up and no charge.
